Feature: Wizkid & 2Baba to Headline Gidi Fest 2018

Gidi Festival is a four-year-old music and arts festival which is usually held in Lagos, and is popularly known as “Gidi Fest”. It was founded by Chinedu Okeke & Teme Banigo, and their reason for choosing Lagos is solely because Lagos is the cultural hub of Africa. The annual festival was created in response to an overwhelming demand for quality, affordable and accessible entertainment in Africa. From inception, Gidi Fest has delivered fun and exciting musical experience to the ever-bubbling city of Lagos, as it features many noteworthy musicians in the African space.

This year’s edition will be no different and will be headlined by two of Nigeria’s biggest music exports, Wizkid, and Tuface Idiba. They will be backed-up by some of the finest Nigerian artists, such as Maleek Berry,  Brymo, Show Dem Camp, Ycee, Adekunle Gold, and Mayorkun. This year, Gidi Fest will be introducing a second stage which aims to showcase the talented new generation of artists who are creating niches for themselves by showcasing good ‘Nigerian sound’. This stage will host artists such as D-Truce, Makka, Remmy Baggins, Lady Donli, D-O, Jinmi Abduls, Jamal Swiss and more.

This year’s edition of Gidi Fest will be holding at Hard Rock Café Beach Front on March 30!

Senator Ademola Adeleke

The senator who stole the show this weekend at the Silverbird “Man of the Year” award with his dance moves had a brief interview with Goldmyne TV and he had this say:

“Davido is my nephew and B-red is my son. I’m not surprised with their success in music since they were kids, they’ve always loved music, I taught them how to sing and dance, it’s in the blood”.

CDQ Reveals What Happened Between Him & Ifu Ennada of Big Brother Naija

Nigerian rapper, Sodiq Abubakar Yusuf, also known as CDQ, was recently called out by Big Brother Naija Housemate, Ifu Ennada, after she claimed she was exploited by CDQ, when she was just 17 years old.

CDQ

According to Ifu Ennada, she sponsored CDQ with money for her school handouts, school fees etc, to enable him to push his career, but in return, she was dumped by the rapper, after he tasted fame.
CDQ was quick to react to the claim and called Ifu a b**ch, saying what they had was just a one night stand.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the rapper confirmed it again, he admitted that there was an affair between them, but claimed it was very brief.

He said,
“Yes, I had sex with her but it was a one-night stand. She came to flirt with me, saying she was a journalist or something like that. We only had sex once. We forgot about everything and lost contact until she had the opportunity to be on TV and tried to take advantage of my stardom to get attention. It’s bygone already; she has expressed herself. Even though I want to take legal actions against her, our judicial system is not solid enough. I am not saying I don’t know her. I knew her briefly when I was at the Lagos State University in 2008, but I only had an encounter with her once. I just feel she wanted to gain people’s attention by saying such, which is evil.”

Previous BBNaija Winner, Efe Ejeba, Has Some Strong Words for His ‘Haters’ in His New Single

Efe Ejeba, used this single as an avenue to address his ‘haters’, making it clear that he isn’t bothered by their discouraging words and he will continue to create more music.

In the freestyle track which he dropped yesterday, the erstwhile BBNaija winner urged his fans to stop feeling entitled just because they voted him during the reality show– saying that he entertained them and they paid for it by voting, so technically he doesn’t owe anyone anything.

“I went for a competition and i won by all means, so i understand the bitterness…if you couldn’t bring me down then you can’t now keep trying.

For all those saying they regret voting for me, i entertained you and your money expired the day the show ended

Most of you have found fun in commenting negatives without ever listening, while others stay mute when the truth is too glaring. My music is great and i know it… i no need any approval… time will tell”

Banky W Announces the Dissolution of Eme Record Label, Rebrands It into a Media Agency

Nigerian singer and EME boss, Banky W, took to his Instagram account to announce the dissolution of the record label arm of Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), which he co-founded, adding that the label has been dissolved since January 2017 as a result of the structuring that is ongoing. He made this known a few days after he revealed that he is currently working on an album titled, “The Bank Statement”.

The singer/actor said that the dissolution is coming after nine years of “Helping discover/boost the careers” of many artistes in the music scene. He added that although EME brand remains, the company will now be a “full-fledged media agency” focusing on Creative Marketing, Advertising, PR, Brand Events/Activations and Talent management.

He also revealed that Adesua Etomi, DJ Xclusive, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu & Tolu Oniru are the first set of clients of the rebranded outfit.

He said:

“Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) was started by @captdemuren & I, way back in 2001/2002 – in my dorm room at my University in NY. The reason we used the word “Empire” was because Tunde and I were crazy enough to dream that we could build a company that would eventually become an Empire.. one that would serve as the launching pad for not only my career goals in music, movies and other interests… but one that would also serve as a stepping stone for other talents to become more successful and achieve their goals as well. We started the record label part of it right there in my room, which we relocated to Lagos around Vals day 2008 – and we thank God for guiding and crowning our efforts thus far; we’ve played our little part in helping discover/boost the careers of a number of talents in the Music business (some of your favourite Artists, Producers & Engineers..) and we are forever grateful for the opportunity to live out our dreams by giving others a platform to shine as well. In January of 2017, after 9 years of being in the Nigerian Music Industry, we decided it was time to quietly close the Record Label Arm of our business.
Essentially we have restructured our business.. and instead of operating just as a record label, we have expanded and changed our focus a bit… we are now a full-fledged Media Agency that focuses on Creative Marketing, Advertising, PR, Brand Events/Activations AND a talent management firm. This switch in focus has been amazing and fulfilling.. behind the scenes, we have been able to impact the launching and marketing of a number of brands and companies the way we did artists.. but even in the talent management side, we are no longer restricted to working with just Music Artistes. We still work with Musicians, but we also work with OAP’s, Actors and are evaluating sports management as well.
The goal was always to find talents and brands we believe in, and partner with them to help them become more successful… now we have expanded to do that for more than just the Music business. We are excited about our client portfolio: the corporate brands we rep, as well as the talents. At the moment, our clients are: @djxclusive83, @ebuka, @toolzo, @adesuaetomi, and of course yours truly Mr W. (And a few corporate brands as well)
Talk to us about all things Marketing/Advertising/PR/Media/Entertainment. We shoot tvc’s and documentaries just as great as we do music videos. We launch brands and products as well as we have launched Artists. Need some help with your digital marketing? Need an ad campaign? Influencers for your next launch? Finding the right brand ambassadors for your product? We are your one-stop shop for the marriage between corporate Africa and Entertainment. For a simple reference, it’s kind of like how Jay went from Rocafella to Roc Nation. Just.. same name, new targets.

Grateful for our past, and excited about our future.. this is EME. God bless you all and thanks for the support.”
